Initial phone consultation
I offer a complimentary phone consultation to discuss your needs and answer any questions you may have in determining whether we are a good match.
First session
Our first meeting is a 50-minute consultation. This is an opportunity for me to better understand your concerns. It is also a chance for you to ask me questions and for us to decide whether we should move forward in our work together.
Therapy Sessions
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. I meet with clients weekly or twice a week. This regularity is important for developing a familiar and trusting treatment relationship.
Referrals
Depending upon the problem and the level of acuity, some patients may need to consider the addition of medication to their treatment regimen. I will discuss this with you, if needed, and can provide referrals to psychiatrists in the area.
Fees and Payment
My fees are comparable to other psychotherapists in San Francisco. At times, I can provide sliding scale therapy if your financial situation is limited. If I’m not able to meet your financial needs, I can help you find a therapist or reputable clinic that can. I accept payment via credit, check or cash. You will not be charged for a missed appointment if you cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled visit.
Insurance
I do not accept insurance. I recommend that you contact your provider prior to our first session to ask about your psychotherapy benefits, as many health insurance policies provide some coverage for mental health treatment. I am considered an “out-of-network” provider, which means that your insurance company may reimburse you directly for some portion of the fees you have paid to me. Upon request, I will provide you with a monthly statement that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
